My friends and I had a great deal of fun a while ago assigning everyone in our group a network. (Full disclosure: I was NBC– kind of a joke, but with a lot of endearing qualities.)
That of course set my mind down the path of further anthropomorphizing the Big Four, this time with a little Game of Thrones flavor.
Let’s start with the easy one:
NBC: House Targaryen
Eerily, the tales of the Peacock and Daenerys Stormborn match up just about perfectly. Check it:
Ruined by a streak of insanity born out of centuries of [corporate] incest (Zucker!) and supplanted by lessers, the ragged remnant of Westeros’ ruling house is trying to claw its way back from exile to reclaim the throne. Granted, Daenerys is still suffering from setbacks (The Firm), but now she at least has dragons (The Voice). That’ll help level the playing field a bit.
Fox: House Lannister
Like I said before, Fox is mostly flash and little substance. That’s not to say it doesn’t have substance– god knows I love Fringe (Tyrion). But other than having a fuckton of money, the Lannisters’ technical grasp on the Iron Throne is slipping.
ABC: House Tully
Family. Duty. Honor.
Ruling the fertile riverlands of the W18-49 demo since Grey’s Anatomy hit the airwaves.
CBS: House Arryn
These guys are old as shit and deeply entrenched, but also kind of off in their own little sphere of relevance.
PBS: House Stark
Noble and ancient as they come. You can’t help but root for them, even when they look like they’re as down and out as the Targaryens.
As a bonus: Can’t you just see The CW playing a Littlefinger-esque role, but with far less success?

Tyrion is Fringe! Lol, loved reading this. Thanks for the tweet xx
Haha, it’s so true. And really, American Idol is totally Tywin Lannister.
